THIS MONTH LONDON HOSTS MAJOR DESIGN EVENTS ACROSS ITS CAPITAL                  This month London hosts a string of major design events throughout its capital. There is a huge array of events to choose from. My favourites are 100% Design and Open House London where the public get to see inside exciting architectural properties in the capital.  

I personally love historic and modern buildings, though the down side is there can be huge queues at this event at the most popular buildings such as ‘The Gherkin’ or 30 St Mary Axe, The City, London. It was designed by Sir Norman Foster and opened in 2004.

100% Design from the 23^rd – 26^th of September 2010 at the Earls Court Exhibition Centre, Earls Court, London. It’s the United Kingdoms leading design & architecture event and showcases some of the best of contemporary interior design. Its split into three categories; 100% Design which is world-class interiors show. 100% Materials showcasing architectural & interior materials. 100% Futures which is an emerging talent showcase. Trade admissions are Thursday to Sunday 23^rd – 26^th Sept. Students Saturday & Sunday 25^th – 26^th Sept only. Public admission Sunday 26^th Sept only. Register online before the 17^th of September to gain your pass and free entry.

Open House London is London’s greatest architectural showcase, which takes place on the weekend of the18th & 19th of September 2010.

The initiative is a simple but powerful concept; hundreds of great buildings of all types and periods open up their doors to all, completely for FREE. It is a truly citywide celebration of the buildings, places and neighborhoods where we live, work and play, and is your opportunity to get out and get under the skin of London's amazing architecture.

London Design Festival from the 18^th – 26^th of September is a nine-day celebration of design in the world’s creative capital, London. The Festival is a platform for the widest spectrum of design disciplines, brought together as a unique and accessible programme. Festival events are staged in up to 150 different venues across the city. Check individual event listings for details. The Festival's hub is at the V&A Museum, Which provides a good starting point from which to explore the Festival. Most Festival events are free to enter. Ticketed events are managed by host / organizing venues. Check listing and contact details for each event you're interested

Tent London. From the 23rd to 26th of September at The Truman Brewery London  Brick Lane, London, E1 6QL. London is the ground-breaking show for forward-thinking design across all disciplines, delivering the very best contemporary and vintage design, architecture and interiors and the world of digital.Have fun, but don’t try and do too many things in one day Tent London an annual event which takes place in the capital's most exciting venue, the Old Truman Brewery, a former industrial site, as part of the London Design Festival. With over 200 designers, manufacturers, design collectives and companies presenting cutting-edge contemporary interiors products - visitors to this years show can purchase the latest designs, spot trends and source the next big thing.

The Tramshed - London Design Festival's Premier Destination A collaborative event by De La Espada, Deborah Spencer and Alice Breed at 22 - 26 September |32 Rivington Street, London EC2A 3WQ. 

The Tramshed, a new addition to this year’s London Design Festival will present 25 authentic international design brands for a major collaborative show in East London. The Tramshed will provide a vibrant hub for these collective brands, bringing a much needed international design element to the Festival. Set against the stunning backdrop of a post- industrial venue, the line up of brands include  De La Espada, Benchmark, Studioilse, Scin, Another Country, Bocci, Decode, Michael Sodeau, Dezeen Watch Store, RVW, Matthew Hilton and Kvadrat.

Also DECOREX International is held at Royal Hospital, Chelsea, London SW3 4SR from the 26^th – 29^th of September. Although it’s a trade only show, on the 28^th from 1.00pm onwards the trade can take clients along for a private view. Let me know if you want to go, maybe I will take you there in person.

FOCUS/10 at The Chelsea Harbour Design Centre, Lots Road Chelsea, London runs from 26^th -29^th September with the first few days trade then Wednesday the 29^th of September all are welcome. Showcasing design excellence from over 400 international brands at 85 Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour showrooms as well as outside participants Osborne & Little and Designers Guild in King's Road, Chelsea. From fabrics, furniture, wall coverings, lighting, accessories, kitchens, bathroom, outdoor living to tiles and carpets, sheer diversity gives the show its creative edge.
