Kjersti Johannessen is a glass artist in Norway and she was educated in art of glass blowing at The Glass School at Kosta Glascenter, Sweden, and The Glass and Ceramic School on Bornholm in Denmark. She has studied at Pilchuck glass school and Haystack Mountain School of crafts, USA. Her background comes from several years in art school before perusing with glass as her material. Glass as a material fascinates her, its quality, its diversity; it can be both transparent and opaque, it movements and the dance in the hot shop, the teamwork. And that it gives her a choice, if you want to fight it or let it flow. She gets her inspiration from the little things in life, like experiences while travelling, meeting old and new friends and hearing their stories. All this results in work filled with superb visual contrasts and forms.
