DEDON Carpets - designer Michaela Schleypen

Created by renowned international carpet designer Michaela Schleypen, DEDON OUTDOOR CARPETS represent yet another significant innovation. Conceived and available in three versions and two varying colors, they add an exciting new dimension to outdoor furnishings, making them even more attractive, comfortable and homey – in other words, a living room outdoors!

One of the world’s most original and renowned designers of rugs and flooring, German-born Michaela Schleypen has developed a unique visual language characterized by the innovative use of 3D effects.

Following stints in New York and Hong Kong, and after ten years as the head of creative development for an internationally acclaimed label, Michaela established her own company, Floor to Heaven, in order to pursue her vision of ‘floor couture,’ supervising every step of development, production and marketing. She achieved overnight success with her ZEN carpet, a hand-tufted and hand-carved creation resembling a Japanese sand garden (even including the obligatory stone). ZEN has garnered numerous international design prizes – including a 2005 red dot award, the international Carpet Design award for Best innovation and the Elle Deco international Design award for Best Newcomer Worldwide – and been featured in countless international interior magazines, including architectural Digest. Michaela is also an acclaimed interior designer, with hotels and private yachts among her many accomplishments. For DEDON, Michaela is developing a beautiful and innovative collection of outdoor carpets.
